About Dr Anmar Al-Witri

Dr Anmar Al-Witri is a specialist neurosurgeon with a broad clinical background and extensive training across leading Australian hospitals.

He graduated in medicine from the University of Baghdad in 2004 and began his medical career in the Middle East, including working at King Abdullah University Hospital in Jordan, before moving to Australia. His early Australian medical and surgical experience was at Rockhampton Base Hospital, where his growing interest in surgery ultimately led him to pursue a career in neurosurgery.

Dr Al-Witri subsequently worked in neurosurgery at John Hunter Hospital and the Westmead Hospital network, including the Children’s Hospital at Westmead, before entering the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons advanced neurosurgical training program. His specialist training took him through Westmead Hospital, Royal North Shore Hospital, Queensland Children’s Hospital, Princess Alexandra Hospital and Nepean Public Hospital, providing experience across a broad spectrum of adult and paediatric neurosurgery.

In 2026, Dr Al-Witri was awarded Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) in Neurosurgery.

Today, his practice focuses on providing thoughtful and individualised care for patients with spinal and cranial neurosurgical conditions, with particular interests in degenerative spinal disease, brain tumours and hydrocephalus. He values taking the time to explain a diagnosis clearly, discuss both surgical and non-surgical options, and help patients make informed decisions about their treatment.
